A journal for geoscientists and geographers

Terrae is the journal of IG-UNICAMP dedicated to geological and geographical communities in Brazil and other countries. The goal of the publication is to promote original knowledge, creativity and innovation in Earth Sciences, Geography, and other related research areas of environmental sciences. As one among several editorial initiatives of the Institute of Geosciences of the University of Campinas, the publication is also dedicated to support Brazilian undergraduate and graduate courses in Geology and Geography.

This journal is available free of charge at the web site www.ige.unicamp.br/terrae. A limited number of printed issues is distributed to academics, professionals, and students upon request. It is distributed also to libraries, institutions, and non-governmental organizations involved with geology, geography, and environmental studies.

Terræ aims to enhance communication between Brazilian geoscientists and geographers, and their peers from other countries. Scientific articles, short communications, and abstracts of thesis and dissertations are published in English. Articles may take the form of thematic and research articles containing new research results of international significance. Scientific reviews or discussions of scientific methodologies and research programs will be accepted, as well. In addition, scientific communications containing partial results of ongoing projects; reviews of books and other scientific materials; reports on conference, courses, and field trips are also welcome.

Planned forthcoming thematic issues for submission of scientific articles are: Logistics and Transports, Geotechnologies, and Mineral Resources. Interdisciplinary approaches are also strongly encouraged.

Articles on Geosciences and Geography education and teaching materials are welcome and they will be published in Terræ Didatica available on the web and printed once a year. Manuscripts directed to Terræ Didatica can be submitted in Portuguese, Spanish, or English.

On behalf of all faculties of IG-UNICAMP, the Editorial Executive Committee wish to thank the scientists and professionals who accepted to join the Editorial Board. The role of the Editorial Board is (i) to assure the high standard of scientific articles, and communications, and (ii) to improve the structure of this publication, based on constructive criticisms and suggestions provided by the readers and submitted for final approval to the Editorial Board.
