About

The Research Group for Geotechnologies Applied to Territorial Management (GeoGet) has been certified by the CNPq Research Group Directory since 2006. It develops theoretical and practical research for the application of geotechnologies (Digital Cartography, Remote Sensing, Global Positioning Systems by Satellites – GNSS, Geographic Information Systems – GIS) in various activities studied by territorial management.

The group’s research has repercussions of various types:

1. Production of georeferenced databases, for different areas of the national territory, which bring together basic and thematic maps and images from different sensors/satellites;

2. Assembling a network of experts who researches the application of geotechnologies in territorial management;

3. Set of supporting experiences for public institutions in developing territorial management work at municipal, state and national scales, as well as training local technicians and managers;

4. Elaboration of academic documents, such as undergraduate projects and monographs, specializations, master’s dissertations and doctoral theses with related topics;;

5. Organizing and participating in national and international scientific congress, sharing the group’s research results;

6. Carrying out contacts and academic/institutional exchanges, enabling group members to dialogue with the abroad community, both national and international, that research on similar themes.
