Reclassify Tool

One approach to convert floating point rasters to integer rasters for use in ArcSDM2 is to reclassify raster using the "Reclassify..." tool in Spatial Analyst. This tool will create an temporary integer raster that must be made permanent and renamed with a 9-characater or less name.

Temporary rasters are made permanent by right clicking on the raster name and clicking on Make Permanent in the drop-down menu. This will also allow the user to rename the raster and specify a location in the working folder.

It is then necessary to rename the raster in the table of contents by right clicking on the raster name, clicking on Properties in the drop-down menu, selecting the General tab, and type in a new name.

The Reclassify window has a Save button to save the reclassification to a file. This file can be used to document the reclassification. This function does not work in ArcMap 8.3, but hopefully it will work in version 9.

Guidance Note: The Spatial Analyst/Options are not affected by any of the ArcSDM2 analysis parameters. If the user desires to process a raster using the Spatial Analyst functions, the Options must be set independent of mask, extent, or cell size set by ArcSDM2.
