Coordinator of the Research on Research and Innovation moderates panel on science evaluation at Fiocruz event

The researcher Adriana Bin, who coordinates the Front 2 of the Research on Research and Innovation, was one of the guests at the II National Meeting on Research Management: Scope, Challenges, and Opportunities, promoted by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) of Paraná. The event took place from May 21 to 23 at the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUCPR).

The event aims to discuss the construction of a modern vision of research and innovation management through the discussion of guidelines, concepts, and tools that can be employed in the routine of research professionals.

Adriana Bin moderated the panel “Multidimensional Evaluation of Science: New Quality Indicators in Research and Innovation and Their Challenges.” The theme is directly addressed in the Research on Research, which studies trends and dynamics of Brazilian research, aiming to contribute to a more accurate evaluation of the impacts of research in various areas of the country.

In addition to her, Bianca Amaro de Melo, coordinator of the Brazilian Open Science Program, and Justin Axel-Berg, research coordinator of the Metrics Project at the University of São Paulo/Fapesp, participated in the panel. Click here to watch the round table.

“There are many new metrics to measure research impact, and we really need to train and work on the changes within universities, research institutes, and funding agencies. However, we also need people studying, proposing, and testing these new metrics, which is somewhat what we are doing in the Research on Research, because these changes and new indicators cannot be made based on assumptions,” emphasized Adriana Bin.
