Mariana Ceci de França e Silva

Master’s student in Scientific and Cultural Communication at the State University of Campinas (Labjor/Unicamp), where she conducts research on public perception of science among people with disabilities. Specialist in Scientific and Technological Information in Health from the Oswaldo Cruz Institute (ICICT/Fiocruz). Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Communication with a focus on Journalism from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). Has prior experience as a reporter for a daily newspaper and as an independent journalist, focusing on health, education, science and city coverage. Worked as a communication advisor at the Alberto Santos Dumont Teaching and Research Institute (ISD), with an emphasis on scientific journalism on topics regarding neuroscience, neuroengineering and health communication. She is one of the co-founders of Cajueira, a curation of content from independent journalism in the Northeastern states of Brazil. Winner of two journalism awards from the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Rio Grande do Norte; finalist for the 2021 Women in Press Trophy, in the “Revelation Journalist” category; part of the winning teams of the 2021 Journalism and Education Call for Proposals from the Association of Education Journalists (Jeduca) and the consortium of winning media outlets of the Google News Initiative 2021, with a project focused on journalistic accessibility. Her work has been published in Piauí magazine; O Globo newspaper; UOL News; #Colabora Project; Ponte Jornalismo; Tribuna do Norte newspaper; and Saiba Mais agency.
