The primary objective of the project is to identify, develop, and utilize approaches, methodologies, and indicators that generate evidence on how research in major knowledge areas can be better planned, funded, evaluated, and communicated, with the aim of generating greater and more significant positive impacts on society.

Secondary objectives

  • Develop research at the frontier of knowledge on RDI indicators, analysis and evaluation methods and their applications.
  • Identify trends and innovations in the organization of research and development at a global and comparative level.
  • Improve indicators and propose new ones, in line with international trends and evidence of research organization and ways to achieve positive impacts in multiple dimensions, such as economic, social, environmental and in science itself.
  • Identify uses of indicators for planning, designing policies, programs and development instruments aiming at greater efficiency and effectiveness of investment, according to different areas of knowledge.
  • Develop methods and indicators for traceability of research funding, its outcomes and impacts.
  • Investigate methods and criteria for selecting funding priorities.
  • Identify indicators associated with the development of innovation ecosystems and university-research sites-company relations.
  • Identify, develop and apply methodologies capable of exploring the frontiers of knowledge in different disciplinary areas.
  • Develop indicators and methods to analyze professional trajectories and national and international mobility of researchers.
  • Map characteristics and profiles of higher education institutions and other research institutions that allow gathering data on the international and Brazilian situation as an input for development policies.
