Simon Schwartzman

Graduated in sociology and political science at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), master’s degree in sociology from the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO, Chile), and PhD in political science from the University of California, Berkeley. His research themes are: political systems, education, science and technology and social policies. He was president of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) from 1994 to 1998.
