The Source-to-sink and Paleopedology Research Group (SPRG), which includes Prof. Dr. Alessandro Batezelli and Prof Dr. Francisco Sergio Bernardes Ladeira, as well as affiliated scientists at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil; studies sedimentation and pedogenesis of continental sequences, clastic sedimentology and stratigraphy, including applications to the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons. Our research has focused on:

- Lithofacies and stratigraphic architecture analysis.

- Climate and palaeoenvironmental reconstruction.

- Micromorphology and pedodiagenetic characterization.

- Paleoecology and pedology-ichnology.

- Well log and 2D/3D seismic interpretation.

- Sequence stratigraphy and provenance studies.
