Interests

Nowadays, an immediate geological gap exists concerning stratigraphical and pedological studies in the different continental basins of Brazil. Especially, research projects dealing with tectonosedimentary and climatic processes involved in the evolution of these basins. Additionally, unpublished, private and/or a small number of research studies dealing with the stratigraphic framework, reservoir characterization and/or petrophysical analysis of siliciclastic and calcareous reservoirs in passive margin sedimentary basins of Brazil, restrict the knowledge, importance, and understanding of this kind of research.

The Source-to-sink and Paleopedology Research Group (SPRG) has two principal research lines, (1) Source-to-sink and (2) Paleopedology, which several  research topics as follows:

Thus, the scope of SPRG research lines is to investigate the mentioned issues using sedimentological, pedological, and stratigraphical proxies aiming to identify possible solutions by a comprehensive geological approach.

The creation of the Source-to-sink and Paleopedology Research Group (SPRG) occurred with the strong purpose of integrate students and researchers with the commitment and interest to study and develop projects in the areas of stratigraphy, pedology, petroleum geology, and basin analysis.

SPRG pursue to incentivize research in different academic levels (e.g.. scientific initiation, undergraduate Research project, MSc dissertation, Ph.D. thesis, and Postdoctoral studies). We want to encourage and motivate all of our members to publish in scientific journals taking into account innovation, team work, and mutual collaboration. We are open to establishing scientific agreements between national and international partners dealing with the same approach of the SPRG research lines.

We have the desire to bring courses, lectures, fieldwork, among other activities taught by leaders and researchers of the SPRG, aiming to established a comprehensive learning of the SPRG research lines.
